"Migration and the Role of Religion" - a lecture by Mr Reza ASLAN

From 16:00 till 18:00
Winter Garden
Natolin (Warsaw) Campus

The Migration and Human Rights Nest and the Religion and Politics Nest at the College of Europe in Natolin organised a lecture by Mr Reza ASLAN, who explored the immense global movements—both physical and ideological—that defines our time.

He discussed the significant shift in the global Islamic population, with millions of Muslims migrating westward and northward from the Middle East, North Africa, and South Asia. Simultaneously, he looked into global Christianity and its expansion southward and eastward, particularly into sub-Saharan Africa, Latin America, and parts of Asia. According to Mr ASLAN, these demographic changes are not mere statistics; they are forces reshaping the face of religion, identity, and politics, with profound impacts on Europe.

These migration patterns have caused enormous challenges, leading to fear and bigotry, threats and ethno-nationalism. How can we navigate these complex issues of migration, religion, and identity without succumbing to fear, bigotry, and division?
