During the second semester, students follow one compulsory course, which is dedicated to the future of Europe and taught and assessed in French. 

• CLOOS J. - L’avenir de l’Europe : Perspectives sur la transformation européenne (20h)

In addition, students need to select five elective courses from the three thematic clusters offered within the programme: Geopolitics of Southeastern Europe, Europe in the 21st Century and Democracy and Rule of Law in Europe. At least one elective course per cluster is offered in French. A compulsory week-long simulation game also takes place during the second semester. Finally, similar to the first semester, optional compact seminars and workshops are organised. The compulsory language courses will continue running throughout the second semester as well.  

Below is a more detailed description of the content of each of the clusters offered.

Cluster 1: Geopolitics of Southeastern Europe

The first cluster focuses on the geopolitics of Southeastern Europe. This cluster offers the following courses:

• TZIFAKIS N. - The Influence of External Actors in the Western Balkans (20h)
• BARBULLUSHI O. - Regional Cooperation in Southeastern Europe (20h)

Cluster 2: Europe in the 21st Century

The second cluster focuses on the challenges and opportunities in Europe in the 21st century. This cluster offers the following courses: 

• PETROVIĆ N.– Migration Governance (20h)
• BARTLETT W. - Economic and Social Disparities (20h)
• SCHUNZ S. & ANDOURA S. - Climate Change and Energy Transition / Changement climatique et transition énergétique (20h)
• BLOCKMANS S. – European Strategic Autonomy and Defence Capabilities (20h)

Cluster 3: Democracy & the Rule of Law

The third cluster focuses on democracy and the rule of law in Europe. This cluster offers the following courses:

• ELEZI G. - Democratic Consolidation and the Rule of Law in Southeastern Europe (20h)
• VIDAČAK I. - Organized Civil Society, Advocacy and Lobbying in Southeastern Europe (20h)
