The Practice and Apply Lab Team at the College of Europe in Natolin organised a workshop titled How to Write a Policy Paper with Dr Jan BOGUSŁAWSKI, a PhD student at Sciences Po Paris, researching the evolution of the welfare state in Central and Eastern Europe.
This workshop equipped students with a solid understanding of the writing process required to produce a high-quality policy paper— a valuable skill for the future careers of many alumni of the College of Europe. Participants learned the key differences between policy papers, academic papers, and journalistic pieces. The workshop covered the essential research process, helped identify the target audience for policy papers, and explored aspects such as style, language, structure, and the effective combination of narrative and data. Ultimately, students gained insights into writing policy papers that drive real impact.
