The Inter-Departmental European Advanced Studies Programme at the College of Europe organises a variety of academic events throughout the year. Among these, the inaugural lectures of the Flanders Fields days hold a special place: they open the first academic trip of the year with a collective reflection on European memory, war, and peace.
In 2025, Christophe Charles (Paris I, IUF) honoured us with an inaugural Conference entitled “The Memory of the great war and its links with European history”.
In 2024, Pierre Purseigle (University of Warwick) gave the entering College promotion an inaugural lecture entitled “War, policymaking,
and the discipline of history. Three lessons of the First World War”.
