The Opening Ceremony of the Jacques Delors Promotion 2024/2025 of the College of Europe in Natolin took place on 4 November 2024. It was our honour to have Mr Luc FRIEDEN, the Prime Minister of Luxembourg, as this year’s keynote speaker.
The ceremony opened with a performance of "Ode to Joy" by the Natolin Choir, followed by a welcome address from the Vice-Rector of the College of Europe, Mrs Ewa OŚNIECKA-TAMECKA. The Rector, Mrs Federica MOGHERINI, delivered online greetings, after which Mrs OŚNIECKA-TAMECKA presented the opening address. The keynote speech, titled "The views of Luxembourg on Europe", was then given by the Prime Minister of Luxembourg, Mr Luc FRIEDEN. Following a musical interlude, recorded video greetings from Bruges Student Representative Ms Marta VAZQUEZ-LERENA were played, and the Natolin Student Representative, Ms Dana REIGNIER-TAYAR, also shared her remarks.
Mr FRIEDEN was appointed Prime Minister of Luxembourg in 2023. He also served as a member of the Luxembourg government from 1998 to 2013, in various capacities under Prime Minister Jean-Claude JUNCKER. He held positions as Minister of Justice, Minister of Defence, Minister of the Treasury and Budget, and Minister of Finance.
