CONFLICT PREVENTION - Creating a Leading Role for the European Union

The Madariaga European Foundation and the Folke Bernadotte Academy jointly propose a two-year programme in order to contribute to the further development of the Conflict Prevention activities in the EU, promoting EU as a leading force in the area.

The programme aims to establish an informal network of experts in Conflict Prevention, both in the EU institutions and in the Member States administrations ensuring that Conflict Prevention policies continue to be at the focus of attention after the end of the programme.

The programme will propose workshops of relevant themes, organised on a regular basis, in close cooperation with EU Presencies and the European Commission. It will aim at presenting the current efforts and activities of the institutions of the European Union and the Member States to enhance its visibility and improve its effectiveness both internally and externally. Internally, to increase the use of the instruments and externally, to enhance cooperation and coordination with external partners.

Moreover, the programme would seek partners in preparing a communication strategy, aiming at facilitating access to information and news on Conflict Prevention on the EU arena. One of the components will be to build and update a website for the programme offering a forum for the EU population to get up to date information on the EU Conflict Prevention work.
