12:30 - Wednesday, 29 April 2009 This Citizen's Controversy looked into the potential impact and implications of the much debated draft directive on cross-border healthcare, issued by the European Commission in July 2008 and backed by the European Parliament in its first reading on 23 April 2009. Formal adoption of the directive is still likely to be delayed, however, as agreement by EU Member States is likely to be subject to much negotiations. During the debate, Karsten Uno Petersen explained why the Committee of the Regions adopted a critical position to the directive.
