On 15 September 2008, the Madariaga - College of Europe Foundation launched its Citizens' Controversies with a debate opposing the European parliamentarians Benoît Hamon (PSE) to Iñigo Méndez de Vigo (PPE-DE), who gave their assessment of the costs of the Irish No vote and addressed the relevance of the Lisbon Treaty in the process of EU political integration.
