Marie-Ange Schellekens-Gaiffe is Deputy Director of the Madariaga-College of Europe Foundation. She holds a DEA in International Law from the University of Dijon (France) as well as a Master in German Business Law for the University of Mainz (Germany). She is also a College of Europe graduate, where, after a first assignment at the European Commission she was appointed Assistant to the Rector and later Communication and Legal Officer. In 1999 she joined the newly created Madariaga Foundation in Brussels, where, as Programme Director, she was in charge of the conception and coordination of the work programme. In this capacity she initiated, among others, the Conflict Prevention programme of the Madariaga Foundation. She has served as lecturer in European Law and enforcement of the Rule of Law for several audience in Central and Eastern Europe and the Balkans. In 2005 she was appointed member of the Board of the Barents Institute in Kirkenes (Norway), a research institute focusing on EU-Russia cross border cooperation. |
