Bank of Sweden Tercentenary Fondation

The Foundation was established in 1962 in Stockholm through the endowment from the Bank of Sweden. The Bank of Sweden Tercentenary Foundation supports scientific research by awarding project grants to individuals, researchers and research groups. In 2004 a partnership agreement was signed between the Bank of Sweden tercentenary Foundation and MEF to develop the Anna Lindh Programme on Conflict Prevention.

Barents Institute

The Barents Institute was created in 2006 in Kirkenes, Norway, by the MEF and the Barents Secretariat. The aim of the Institute is to carry out research to study resource management and regional development issues in the circumpolar north and the Barents Region. In 2006, the Barents Institute partnered MEF in organising a workshop on "Energy and Dispute Management in the Barents Region."

Café Babel

Cafebabel.com is the first multilingual European current affairs magazine, created with the aim to stimulate and develop European public opinion. In 2005, MEF and Café Babel Brussels entered into a partnership, sharing premises and collaborating in the organisation of joint events.

Charles Stewart Mott Foundation

Through its international grant-making programs covering civil society, environment and poverty, the Mott Foundation (Flint, USA) seeks to fulfil its mission of supporting efforts that promote a just, equitable and sustainable society. The Foundation supports the activities of MEF through the Euroserve grant.

College of Europe

The College of Europe, founded in 1949, is a centre of academic excellence preparing individuals to work and live in an international environment with its campuses in Bruges (Belgium) and Natolin (Poland). The College is at the cutting edge of reflection on European intergration and is unique in its in-depth understanding of Europe in all its complexity. Since is creation, MEF works in close collaboration with the College's staff and students, according to the agreement signed between the two organisations in May 1998.

College of Europe Alumni Association

MEF was created by the Association and the two organisations are currently share premises in Brussels. The Alumni Association is today composed of more than 9000 members and their network provides key support for the implementation of the MEF programme of activities.

Compagnia di San Paolo

Founded in 1563 as a charitable brotherhood, the Compagnia di San Paolo (Turin, Italy) is now one of the largest foundations in Europe. It is active in the sectors of scientific, economic and juridical research; education; art and the preservation and valorisation of cultural heritage; health; and assistance to the socially deprived categories of society. In 2006, the Compagnia collaborated with MEF on preparing a project on Conflict Prevention through Cultural Interaction in the Mediterranean Region.

Crisis Management Initiative  

Founded in 2000 by its Chairman President Martti Ahtisaari, Crisis Management Initiative (CMI) is an independent, non-profit organisation that innovatively promotes and works for sustainable security. MCF and CMI, in cooperation with the Centro Internacional de Toledo Para la Paz, run a joint conference series focused on the European approach to defence and security in the 21^st Century.

The EWI (Brussels/New York) is an independant, not-for-profit, internation institution that operates long-term projects that seek to create trust and understanding and to reduce tensions from Eurasia to the trans-Atlantic. MEF and EWI eneterd into a partnership to develop a joint project on Energy and Conflict Prevention.

Representatives of European Union Institutions are regularly involved in MEF's programme of activities, including conferences and working groups. The European Parliament, the European Commission and the Council of the European Union support and are involved in several projects of the Foundation.

Europe's World

Europe's World is an international policy journal published by Friends of Europe in partnership with some 50 leading European think-tanks, including MEF. It is a pan-European publication offering policymakers and opinion-formers accross Europe a platform for representing ideas and forgind concensus on key issues. It also reflects the diversity of national policy debates in EU states, with particular attention being paid to newcomer and candidate countries.

Evens Foundation

The Evens Foundation (Antwerp, Belgium) works to promote European construction and bridge-building between people, commercial enterprises, non-profit making associations and institutions. The Foundation does so by encouraging and supporting connections, partnerships, symposiums and projects. It develops its activities in the intercultural and the artistic field as well as in areas of European Citizenship and Conflict Prevention. The Evens Foundation supports MEF through a 5 years general purpose grant and is an active collaborator ine MEF's Mediterranean project.

Folke Bernadotte Academy

The Folke Bernadotte Academy (Stockholm, Sweden) is a Swedish government agency dedicated to improving the quality and effectiveness of international conflict and crisis management, with a particular focus on peace operations. The Academy functions as a platform for cooperation between Swedish agencies and organisations and their international partners. MEF and the Folke bernadotte Academy frequently collaborate on several project in the field of conflict prevention.

Ford Foundation

The Ford Foundation seeks to strengthen democratic values, reduce poverty and injustice, promote international cooperation and advance human achievement. With headquarters in New York City and offices in Asia, Africa, the Middle East, Latin America and Russia, the Foundation works mainly by making grants or loans that build knowledge and strengthen organizations and networks. It supports the activities of MEF through the Euroserve grant.

The French Permanent Representation to the EU frequently participates in debates organised by think-tanks on European topics. They support MEF by partenering events of Mardis de l'Europe, MEF's lunch-time debates.

The Joseph Rowntree Charitable Trust is an organization commited to funding change towards a better world, supplying grants for individuals and projects seeking the creation of a peaceful world, political equality and social justice. JRCT support MEF by funding the Conflict Prevention in Practice Programme.

Leuven Centre for Global Governance Studies 

Based at Leuven’s Catholic University, the Centre for Global Governance Studies is an interdisciplinary research centre of the Humanities and Social Sciences. It carries out and supports interdisciplinary research on topics related to globalization, governance processes and multilateralism.  The Leuven Centre and MCF collaborate in the organisation of joint seminars and conferences.

Norwegian Barents Secretariat

The Norwegian Barents Secretariat (Kirkenes, Norway) works on the development of cross-border cooperation between East and West in the Barents Region. MEF and the Barents Secretariat signed a cooperation agreement which led to the creation of the Barents Institute in February 2006.

Oriente Foundation

The aims of the Oriente Foundation (Lisbon) are to carry out and support the cultural, educational, artistic, philanthropic and social actions, predominantly in Portugal and Macao, China. As such, the Foundation is dedicated to encouraging the maintenance and strengthening of the historical and cultural ties between Portugal and the countries of the Far East. The Foundation has a representative on the MEF board and was a sponsor ot the Hendrik Brugmans Memorial Lectures.

Toledo International Centre for Peace

The Toledo International Centre for Peace (CITpax) seeks to contribute to the prevention and resolution of violent or potentially violent international or intranational conflicts and to the consolidation of peace, within a framework of respect and promotion of Human Rights and democratic values. MCF and CITpax, in cooperation with the Crisis Management Initiative, run a joint conference series focused on the European approach to defence and security in the 21^st Century.
